First Friday at the Homeless Garden Project Store
Featuring Sylvia Valentine’s “HeartFelt & Found” Mixed Media Floral Art
Friday, May 2 | 6:00–8:30 PM
1338 Pacific Ave., Downtown Santa Cruz
Join us for First Friday in Downtown Santa Cruz and celebrate the arrival of spring with local art, good food, and a deeper mission. The Homeless Garden Project Store is proud to feature the imaginative and beautifully crafted work of local artist Sylvia Valentine and her new collection, “HeartFelt & Found.” This mixed media floral art series includes one-of-a-kind pieces created from felt, paper, wood flowers, antique shoes, natural elements like bark, moss, driftwood, shells, and velvet pumpkins, arranged in vintage frames and found objects. Each piece is tenderly made, named, and treated as a living work of art.
Sylvia’s nature photography, cards, and books are also carried in our store. Her full exhibit will be on display throughout the month of May, with a special artist reception on Friday, May 2 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM, including:
Complimentary samples of our Chocolate Rosemary Brownies
Refreshments and music
The opportunity to meet the artist and shop her handcrafted creations
More Than Art – A Mission with Impact
The Homeless Garden Project is a nonprofit organization that provides job training, transitional employment, and wraparound support services to individuals experiencing homelessness in Santa Cruz County. Through work on our organic farm and in our downtown retail store, trainees gain valuable skills, build stability, and prepare to transition to permanent employment and housing.
Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program offers a unique way to engage with our mission. By subscribing, you receive a weekly share of fresh, Certified Organic produce grown on our farm. Every box supports meaningful employment and training for someone working toward a brighter future. Sign-ups for our CSA will be available at the event.
