Midnight Oil Collective is a Santa Cruz based analog and film photography collective specializing in the wet plate collodion process which was invented in 1851!

Tintypes are completely hand made on a metal plate and are created form start to finish all within about ten minutes. We coat the plate in photo sensitive chemicals, develop and fix the image on site so you can see the image almost instantly. Tintypes, once dried and varnished at our studio will last many many years. We have pictures from the 1800s that still look crisp and beautiful!
