Nancy Brookie-Connor, a long time resident of Mt. Hermon, CA, grew up in the Bay Area and went to college in the Northwest where she studied literature and art, as well as earning her teaching credential. During her teaching career in elementary schools throughout California, one of her very favorite subjects to teach was art. Having worked in watercolor for fifteen years, she especially enjoyed sharing her love of this medium with her students. Now recently retired, Nancy is very happy to be able to devote herself more fully to her art, and has recently begun to integrate monoprints and mixed media into her watercolors. She is delighted to have the opportunity to participate in Open Studios in 2013.
Since a very young age, Nancy has been drawn to mountains, forests, meadows, and ponds and the creatures that inhabit these wild places. She has always found her inspiration in nature and its many manifestations, particularly in the interplay between the mystery of the known and unknown, the seen and unseen.
