I am a self-taught fiber artist inspired by the natural world. My signature Wildscapes—miniature, tactile landscapes—stem from a deep-rooted connection to the lush environment just beyond my studio door.
My art invites viewers to engage on a sensory level. I want people to feel an irresistible urge to reach out and touch my work, or even imagine themselves shrinking down to walk through the textured landscapes I create. Each piece is stitched by hand, allowing the intimate connection between my hands and the materials to carry forth to the final artwork.
I am obsessed with texture. I begin almost every Wildscape with hundreds of French knots, using hand-dyed wool yarn and other fibers to create pieces that are as inviting to the touch as they are to the eye. For me, it's not just about how the art looks but how it feels.
Working intuitively, I let the energy of the materials guide my hands so the work can evolve organically, just as it does in the wild. The textures I build with each layer of wool and fiber are meant to evoke the intricate, unseen connections that exist in nature—the roots beneath the soil, the way everything in the environment is interlinked. I believe the care and attention I pour into every stitch creates an energy that flows from me to the viewer, forming a tangible connection between us.
Through my Wildscapes, I offer a visual meditation—a space where one can rest, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world. My work serves as a reminder that in nature, as in life, everything is interconnected, from the smallest roots to the tallest trees, and from one person to another.
