By day I am an RN, at night I turn into an acrylic pouring artist! I am relatively new to acrylic pouring, and am learning new techniques everyday! When viewing my art, know that I have been deeply influenced and inspired by my surroundings, motherhood, and from growing up in the 1960s Hippy Culture in the Bay Area and in Santa Cruz, CA where I have resided for 40 plus years.
I moved to Santa Cruz 1974 with my father (a psychiatrist and an artist) and have lived mostly in Davenport, where I married and raised two beautiful boys, both grown and successful in their own right. For many years I was an uneducated housewife, but when my boys got older, I went back to school, got my GED, then went on to Cabrillo College to earn a degree in Nursing, which ultimately allowed me to pursue a Baccalaureate degree and finally earn a Masters degree in Healthcare Management. I am forever grateful to the Santa Cruz Community support that I received along the way!
Today, with my boys grown, and myself being finished with school, I find that the stress of just working every day is just too much, and I need a creative outlet and serenity when I come home! Thank goodness for painting! I absolutely LOVE the Acrylic pouring technique. Painting in this medium, not only takes me away from the tremendous stress of my career in acute psychiatric nursing, but also allows and encourages me to create a connection to my surroundings, and opens up my intuitive and spiritual side. Additionally, albeit in an abstract fashion, my paintings reflect my home and immediate surroundings, as I can capture my vision of the tide pools, windswept cliffs and sunsets in Davenport and Bonny Doon areas.
