Valerie Blume is a local artist who has lived in the Santa Cruz mountains for 33 years. She considers herself a visual artist who is passionate about nature and creating artwork that is lightly abstract and slightly whimsical with impressionist styles throughout. Her aim is to transport viewers into enchanting worlds with vibrant color and depth.
Through her art, she invites us to pause, to marvel and to find solace in the timeless beauty of our surroundings with a reminder to look at the world from a different perspective.
This brand new "Blume Collection" of paintings celebrates a life change with her new last name. Since Blume literally means Bloom or flower, she wanted to celebrate with a collection of vibrant floral paintings. This is not just a rebranding, but a new chapter in Valerie's artistic journey.
She found this freeing style of art in 2020 during the pandemic and after her family home was lost in the CZU fire in Boulder Creek. As a former oil landscape artist, she found this style of acrylic painting that had no rules, no boundaries to be an incredible outlet for healing the mind, body and spirit. She enjoys teaching this style of art to help others, too.
