Kalil Mitchell is a visual artist from the Bay Area, living and working in Santa Cruz, California.

Kalil developed a deep reverence and love for the living world at a very young age, filling multiple sketchbooks with scientific illustrations and observations while she was an elementary student. Later she became attracted to the complexities and mysteries of micro-biology, planning to study genetics in higher education at one point before committing to art. Her work revisits these deep infatuations and curiosities through a language of folk-abstraction and spiritualism, using symbols that are both culturally and personally significant.
