My work combines softness with a slightly surreal sensibility. I often find myself creating something monstrous in delicate shades of pink, for example. I'm also interested the human form, especially hands. I look for what is beautiful and what is strange in everything I draw. I have begun to focus on smaller works in colored pencil or acrylic paint on paper, rather than the large-scale projects I had been used to during my early career as a muralist. After earning my bachelor's degree in painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design, I worked as a muralist and decorative painter around the San Francisco Bay Area for six years. Then I rediscovered my passion for drawing during the three summers I spent working as a retail caricature artist at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

I have lived in Santa Cruz since 2009, teaching the occasional class and seeking out quiet drawing time.
