Katie Simpson

Katie Simpson is from the redwood forest of Aptos, CA and has a Studio Art MFA in Studio Art from the City College of New York, CUNY and a BA in Drawing, Painting and Printmaking from Portland State University. She shows her art nationally and regionally.
Simpson is a nature enthusiast who’s mixed media paintings, books, prints and drawings focus on nature and the earth. Her most recent work combines acrylic paint, collage, drawing, and relief printmaking. By focusing on lush and diligent factors of the natural world, her artwork invites viewers to examine their own relationships with nature.
Simpson also works in Art Education with the Arts Council Santa Cruz County, as a Teaching Artist and Arts Education Manager, where she brings visual art education to students from TK-12th grade. She’s worked in various local and national arts organizations, and loves teaching a variety of art forms. She also teaches classes for adults through arts organizations and community centers in Santa Cruz County.
