“Flight Prints” by John Welch
Artist Statement
I try to capture the ‘trails’ that birds ‘paint’ on the sky as they fly. To do this, I take many rapid exposures of flying birds and layer them together to create images that are aesthetically pleasing and illustrate bird behavior.
Although they often seem abstract, I want the images to be accurate representations of birds in their environment, and so I don’t manipulate them by adding or removing content, backgrounds, etc. The layering is done with the help of a program I wrote in Python for the purpose.
Meet the artist on Friday, and learn about his process! John Welch is an emerging artist, and we are excited to present his work. Still on view, is Randie Silverstein’s glass installation, “Looking Up”! Come at twilight to experience it’s magic, and don’t miss out on enjoying a flight of our FALL RELEASE wines, sure to quench your thirst with these delicious selections. Make a reservation for one of our cozy fire-pit tables on the patio. We are kid and dog friendly!
