SoulCare Studios, Where Wellness Meets Soul, is thrilled to bring First Friday to Aptos. On June 6th we will be honoring fathers, biological or meaningful male figures in our lives. Join us on Friday, June 6th as we are featuring Slyvia Valentine’s award winning Nature Photography and newcomer August Duncan, designer, whose innovative design launched lifestyle wear with art and function. Additional, SCS supports other local artists showcase their art ranging from beautifully hand crafted jewelry, organic skin care, and highly detailed beaded earrings.
Building friendships and community while serving West Peak Sparkling Spirits, local wines, Kangen Living Water, Dandelion Tea and Living Swell Kombucha. Tasty treats made in the Thermomix will be served alongside fire roasted pizza.
Featuring Sylvia Valentine a local award winning photographer from Corralitos, where her photos reflect what my heart connects with in the moment. I love capturing the Spirit of a place, experimenting with different angles and light to explore a unique perspective. I’m humbled to receive the CA Arts Council Fellowship Award, and voted Best Photographer over multiple years. I love the magic of creating a hidden gem in something ordinary, and capturing the beauty of a moment…from a drive around our beautiful California coast to an international adventure overseas. I’m honored to partner with Soul Care Studios!

August Duncan is the founder of and designer for ScervGear, an innovative apparel brand rooted in the belief that form follows function—and that style begins where function ends. A Santa Cruz native, August has been designing and building from a young age, ultimately earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from California College of the Arts (CCA) while on a scholarship, along with a summer merit program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Santa Cruz Works featured him in an article titled “ScervGear: Revolutionizing Active Lifestyle Wear with Art and Function”.
ScervGear was born out of a personal need: skate pants that move with the body and elevate confidence through design. Official launched in April 2025, the brand reflects August’s passion for merging technical performance with streetwear edge style. What began with skate is expanding—prototypes for surf and snow are already in motion. Today, August continues to lead product innovation and field-testing in Santa Cruz, redefining what active lifestyle wear can be.
