A little about our artist Shane: He was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2. He has benefited from years of speech therapy, occupational therapy, horseback riding therapy and applied behavioral analysis therapy. Shane started art classes when he was 8. We had his first Autism in the Arts Show when he was 13. Up until COVID, we hosted the show garnering up to 300 people in attendance. His art was highly sot after, as guest would arrive early to acquire their favorite pieces that spoke to them personally. After COVID, he and his mom Maureen started doing pop-ups and hired a greeting card sales representative to bring Shane’s greeting cards up and down the coast. He still resides in a handful of stores, and we started doing our annual Autism in the Arts show again. The pop-ups are popular during the holiday season. Shane enjoys his time with his core group of 15 young men who enjoy art and gaming. We are hoping that his art business will bring him continued income to sustain him and help him feel like a contributing member of society.
