Join us Friday, December 6th for the incredible work of local artist Gina Firpo!
About The Artist:
Gina began painting as therapy when recovering from a traumatic brain injury in 2019. The pandemic provided her time to deep dive into her paints and explore her style. She is self-taught with some coaching by her talented mom. Her paintings capture impressions of nature around her. They are described as happy and uplifting. She believes that life can be challenging, and filling our homes with beauty can help us feel grateful, calm and hopeful.
Gina enjoyed growing up in a creative home and finding her spot in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains. She is grateful for her brain injury recovery, albeit frustratingly slow. Surrounded by coastal redwoods, she is inspired by the endless beauty around her. She shows her work locally, donates her art to good causes (SLV schools, Homeless Garden Project, Valley Churches United, and more), and offers occasional creativity workshops for children and adults. Her work has been featured in Santa Cruz Open Studios and San Lorenzo Valley Art Tour, as well as exhibited at the Santa Cruz Art League, Santa Cruz Mountain Art Center, Home by Zinnias, White Raven Coffee Shop, Viscosity Gallery, Felton Library, medical offices and First Friday Art Night. She serves on the Board of Directors of Santa Cruz Mountain Arts Center and contributes as a member of the Santa Cruz Art Council’s Grant Making Committee.
