In 1983 Mr. Edwards became an empresario in the livery business, as a private professional chauffeur, following in a family tradition pioneered by his father. In 2002, Mr. Edwards ordered a custom Cadillac Executive Sedan, outfitted with a personal desk facing the passenger seat in back on the right. He used his “wait time” sitting at that desk making drawings in a sketchbook, combining the two main underpinnings of his survival. Those drawings are selectively scanned and subsequently digitally printed onto fine rag paper and/or archival canvas. Some of the work on view here in Santa Cruz emerged from that sketchbook. Greg has been making inspired magic drawings since 1969, shown internationally with work exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, most recently at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. His work is represented in many prominent collections here and abroad, with acquisitions this year by the Columbus Museum of Art.
