Gwendolyn is a local artist from the Monterey Bay area. Her early works include monochromatic portraiture, a period of large florals while living in Maui (2001-2004), and her more recent work includes abstracts, geometrics, and canvas manipulations. Gwendolyn grew up in Santa Cruz, CA, and has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, and Hawaii. Her mother, Evelyn Pogrowski, founder of Sky Blue Pink Art Studio, Santa Cruz, CA, was one of her earliest influences and continues to be one of her main inspirations.
Gwendolyn is currently working on a series of collaborative paintings and portraits with fellow local artist Wilfred Sarr. Gwendolyn is interested in the intersection of line, color, shape, & form, and allowing the materials to speak as co-collaborators in the creative process. She believes art and life are in constant dialogue, that one continually reflects & shapes the other, and she is interested in that interplay.
