From the Artist:
I am 46, a psychotherapist and aspiring artist. I moved to Santa Cruz for her wonders in 2011 and have absorbed her influences. I remembered this art in 2019, inspired by love to make a unique gift (this simple sand dollar one can be seen in IG). I wanted to put 2 images together and weaving came to mind. It became paper surgery, creating analog pixels. I found local magazines with local photographers with pictures of local areas. These are most of my raw material, like skeins of yarn. I select for color and image. I design or choose a pattern to hopefully accentuate the picture/s, the actual outcome is a surprise to me, revealing itself as I go. Sometimes I go back. I’m limited to what I can find and then my own creativity. These are my paper quilts.
