UNIQUE MULTIPLESMÚLTIPLES ÚNICOS: Teaching with the Parkett Collection from the University of Castilla-La Mancha is co-curated by Shelby Graham, director of the Sesnon Gallery, and Enrique Leal, assistant professor, print media, at UC Santa Cruz. This exhibition will feature approximately 60 selected works, including Ai Weiwei, Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, William Kentridge, Kara Walker and others, that make up the Parkett Collection* housed at the School of Fine Arts, University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), Contemporary Art Archives and Collections, located in Cuenca, Spain.
*Parkett describes itself as a small museum and a large library on contemporary art. It was a literary arts journal (1984-2017) presenting the work of prominent international artists, with essays by writers and critics, that commissioned artists featured in the publication to create a work of art specifically for Parkett, produced in limited edition, signed, numbered and offered for purchase to subscribers
In Conjunction with Unique Multiples, for First Friday, printmaker Kaelan Carrasco will perform a screen printing demo on social commentary around fast fashion and consumerism. Kaelan will print on anything you bring, including clothing, bags, accessories in order to spark commentary about fast fashion and its implications. All welcome to participate.
The Mary Porter Sesnon Art Gallery encourages interdisciplinary discourse through the lens of the arts. The gallery is located at Porter College above the koi pond at UC Santa Cruz, and is wheelchair accessible. Admission is free and metered parking is available at Porter College. Gallery hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 12–5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 12–8:00 p.m. The gallery is a short walk from the bus stop at Porter College.
