Claudia Makeyev weaves her scientific knowledge and experiences in and on the ocean into her artwork. She does scientific illustrations for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, where she works as an Environmental Scientist in the Pelagic Fisheries and Ecosystem Program. She creates large acrylic ocean themed paintings, and writes and illustrates educational mermaid books for kids.
